The start of football season is upon us. College athletes have started reporting to campus training camps and the NFL has just played its first preseason game, whetting the appetites of football fans for the start of another awesome tailgating season.

One of America’s favorite rites of fall, pregame tailgate parties have taken the simple picnic in the parking lot before the game and turned it into a major extravaganza. Football fans start gathering at stadiums the night before a big game to stake out the best spots to set up their grills and buffet tables. Tented canopies emblazoned with team colors and logos go up. Big screen TVs are set up. Corn hole games start sprouting on the pavement. And over everything wafts the scent of barbecue. It’s another perfect weekend in football country.

At the heart of all this tailgating activity you’ll find rows of RV motorhomes and travel trailers. RVs are the ultimate tailgating vehicle, bringing all the conveniences of home to your favorite stadium parking lot. The exterior awnings, grills, drink coolers, TV screens and sound systems popular on many luxury RV models make tailgate setup a snap. Bringing your own kitchen and bathroom to the party makes RV tailgating incredibly convenient.

The popularity of RV tailgating not only at football games but also at kids’ games and sports events has prompted the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) to create a series of Go RVing ads scheduled to debut this fall during college football coverage on CBS Sports and ESPN. Titled Victory, the ads will be voiced by Blue Bloods star Tom Selleck.

In partnership with Sports Illustrated, Go RVing will also host a Campus Tailgate Tour. Joining the tailgating fun at six NCAA football games, the tour will feature fan games and giveaways, tailgate cooking competitions and autograph and photo ops with popular football players. Watch for the RV tour at a stadium near you!
