Yes, this is that Toyota RV you have been looking for! It is rare and unique -- especially because it is NOT a project! Just the opposite — everything has been carefully gone over to be as nice as possible. My assistant and I have spent many, many hours intentionally restoring this coach in the last year to make it optimally usable for the next owners. Toyota RVs are our hobby and we take pride in our work. We have great satisfaction when we can put one back on the road as it was meant to be.
This Toyota RV is a rare Sunrader Classics model. Sunraders are considered the most sought-after of all the Toyota RVs, and ones with a V-6 engine like this one are very hard to find.
Firstly, Sunrader is the only brand of Toyota RV which has a full fiberglass shell, in two pieces put together with a clam-shell design. This makes them less prone to rain leaks compared to other types of RV construction. This one is from the next-to-last production year for Sunraders, so this one is about as new as you can get.
Most importantly, this Sunrader has the more desirable V-6 engine. Compared to a 4 cyl., the V-6 engine gives you more adequate power for climbing hills and the ability to tow a moderate load. Interstate speeds of 70 mph are easy to maintain. Toyota engines are known for their longevity and great gas mileage especially compared to any other van-chassis RVs of the same size and price.
Although 4 cyl. Toyota Sunraders are somewhat common, Sunraders with a V-6 engine are very rare. This is because only for the last three out of 14 production years did the Sunrader factory use the V-6 chassis. And only about 6 or so of these come up for sale each year in the entire United States — most of which usually need a fair amount of time and attention, and probably a fair amount of money to make them comfortable and trouble-free again. Here now instead is one that is ready to go camping right away.
“Way above average" aptly describes this Toyota RV. The reasons will become obvious when you read its many features and upgrades.
The floorplan of this one has a sofabed behind the driver, a dinette with swivel chairs on the the passenger side, the kitchen in the center, and the bathroom in the back. (The bathroom has a separate full fiberglass shower, not with the toilet in the shower stall). The entry door is behind the passenger seat for easy access to the sofa to lounge on. Plus, Sunraders are designed with several unique features (see below) that make them quite comfortable to drive and to camp in.
The V-6 chassis on this RV has automatic transmission and can get up to 16 miles per gallon. The odometer has 99K miles which is about average for a Toyota RV. However it is mechanically better than most with the engine having been completely serviced by a competent mechanic (see details below). Now with new fuel injectors it does drive quite peppy compared to most other Toyota RVs. No applicable recalls. There is no significant chassis rust; vehicle is originally from California.
All tires are Cooper brand proper load range D, and have only been driven a few thousand miles, and still have quite good tread. This vehicle has the full-floating one-ton rear axle and six-lug wheels throughout. Spare tire is located underneath. There are Air Springs in the rear to provide a more comfortable ride for passengers, and for leveling the coach somewhat while camping.
The exterior has been polished and detailed, and the exterior blue stripes (a rare color for Sunraders) are newly installed making this vehicle quite stunning compared to most. If you didn’t know, finding a nice-looking exterior on a Toyota RV is one of the harder things to come by. You can be proud to drive this stylish-looking coach.
The interior decor of this coach is also in very nice condition with recently replaced blue-toned upholstery and curtains (black-out style). The kitchen and bath now have an added backsplash of stylish faux tile (less weight than real tile). The carpet was recently replaced throughout.
