Restoring Toyota RVs has been our hobby for 25 years. My assistants and I have been carefully refurbishing this Toyota Dolphin for multiple months to be optimally usable for the next owners. We are experienced in what we do and take pride in our work. There is a lot of satisfaction in putting one back on the road as it was meant to be with everything working again as perfectly as we can make it.

‘Way above average’ aptly describes this coach. The reasons will become obvious when you read this entire description of its many features and upgrades. Please be aware that most classic Toyota RVs that come up for sale need a fair amount of time and attention, and probably a good amount of money to make them truly comfortable and trouble-free again. Here now instead, is one that is ready to take camping right away. What you will read about consists of almost 100 different items and upgrades that the new owner WON’T have to deal with because we have fixed or improved or added them already.

Most significantly, this RV has a built-in Onan 2800 watt generator, so that you can have power for the roof air conditioner or the microwave anytime you want, by conveniently turning on the inside switch. Just so you know, only about 25% of Toyota RVs have a built-in generator, so this is quite an important feature. (It would take almost $4000 if you had to newly-install one.) This generator has just been completely serviced by an experienced technician to run reliably when you need to count on it.

Secondly this RV has a large 100-watt solar panel on the roof to keep the new deep-cycle coach battery continually charged when you have no outside power source and are parked outdoors. This is a Unisolar brand of panel designed for greater-than-average output even in partial shade or under moderate snow.

Additionally we have detailed the outside of this RV to be very nice-looking again. The exterior is fiberglass with no significant imperfections and with replacement vinyl striping in good condition. The exterior lights have been replaced with LEDs. The outside mirrors and other external accessories have been refurbished to look fresh again. The roof edges and window rims have been sealed against leaks. This RV has actually weathered multiple significant rainstorms in the last couple of months with no interior water intrusion. If you didn't know, finding a well-sealed Toyota RV like this with a decent looking exterior is getting harder and harder to come by.

Also, it has a V-6 engine (not a 4-cylinder) so you have more adequate power for climbing hills, and you have the ability to tow a moderate load if you like. Interstate speeds of 65 mph are easy to maintain. The ride in the cab is much quieter and the seats are more comfortable than in earlier 4-cylinder models. This RV’s chassis was just recently completely serviced and then test-driven on a 1500-mile trip, confirming it performs without any notable concerns.

Mini RVs with a Toyota chassis are increasingly sought after because of their longevity and great gas mileage, especially compared to any other van-chassis RVs of the same size and price. This one with automatic transmission gets up to twice the mpg of an American motor RV of the same vintage. It has only 93,xxx original miles on the odometer which is a bit lower than average for a Toyota RV. (We know of well-maintained Toyota RVs with close to 200K miles that are still being regularly enjoyed by their owners.)

This vehicle has the preferred full-floating one-ton rear axle and six-lug wheels throughout. In the rear there are air springs for a more comfortable ride and to level the coach somewhat while camping. The Bilstein brand shocks all around make it ride and drive very comfortably. All six tires are new this last summer — Hankook brand in the proper Load Range D. There is a spare with a new tire cover located on the rear. Because this RV has spent almost all of its life in California and then Florida for a while, it has no significant rust or under-chassis issues.

The engine and all other chassis parts have been carefully serviced for optimum performance (totaling almost $6500 in the last few months).
- The compression tested good; the valves are correctly adjusted
- Fuel tank has been flushed with a new fuel pump installed
- All drive belts were replaced
- The cab air conditioning was serviced and refilled with R-134a
- Rear differential was serviced
- The engine battery is new

Included with the vehicle is a folder of service records dating back to the first owners (we are only the third). The Head Gasket recall was taken care of by Toyota in 1998. An inspection last week by a mechanic did not find the need for any additional significant engine/chassis services at this time.

You can have confidence that this RV will perform better than most others of this vintage. Specifically, it is MUCH more apt to be free of all the unexpected surprises that often come with used RVs that are for sale because their sellers just want them gone. Compared to most that are out there that are ‘projects,’ this one instead is in way-above-average condition.
