This high quality motor coach is in pristine mechanical condition. I have owned this since 2002 when I bought it from the original owner at 40,000 miles. As the owner of a mechanical services company, I have maintained this vehicle in house, other than the Detroit Diesel scheduled valve adjustment at 100,000 miles.
The cosmetic condition is very good, although the carpet has some discoloration (white carpet in a vehicle is not the most practical choice) Some of the wall covering and trim inside the coach is not in new condition, some TLC might be in order on this.
Overview, but not complete, list of maintenance and upgrades are as follows:
ENGINE: All engine scheduled maintenance has been completed. This includes oil and filter changes, fuel filter changes, 100,000 mile engine valve adjustment and coolant change. Shell Rotella T4 used consistently
Access panels for engine: Access for major engine work has been modified to allow easier access from bottom of closet. Aluminum framing has been fabricated as an upgrade from flat panels and wood.
Chassis: In 2010 it was discovered that the rear frame had a factory recall for possible welding issues. The back end of the frame was upgraded. The modification included supporting the engine and transmission while the framing was replaced. If we were not able to do this in our own fabrication factory, cost would have exceeded $ 20,000. It will Never sag or distort now, as it far exceeds the original design and construction.
Engine thermostats have been replaced with new thermostats.
TRANSMISSION: Transmission has been serviced at scheduled intervals. ATF change at 35k and again at 135k using fully synthetic fluid and filter replacement.
Transmission cooler: After multiple failures of the of the cooler, the entire unit was redesigned and reinstalled. Cooler now has flexible connections to the system, and is totally removable with pipe union connections to the system.
SUSPENSION Lubrication according to schedule. Air bags on rear have been replaced with new ones, front air bags have been inspected for wear and found to be in good condition.
BRAKES: brakes have been checked frequently. Pads are good, linkage has been lubricated. Three stage engine brake retarder minimizes wear on brake system.
TIRES: all have good wear left, minimal cracking. Tires have been spun balanced on vehicle and have no vibration at any speed. Dual tires have CrossFire air balancing device which keeps tires at identical pressure.
Tire monitor system shows, in real time, the pressure and temperature of each of the ten tires. Pressure loss or temperature increase triggers dash alarm.
Some of the dash instruments have been replaced with higher quality gauges.
The back up camera system is new and left and right side cameras have been added to the system.
Alternator, 300 amp. Has been completely rebuilt including new stator and new bearings.
A factory design flaw allowed one of the main circuit breakers to trip when dash heat was on full power for extended time, and then brake lights were activated (8 incandescent bulbs). Problem was rectified by reallocating electrical loads and adding an additional breaker. 8 bulbs on the brake lights are now operated by a relay powered directly from the battery terminals.
TURBOCHARGER: unfortunately the above condition caused the engine to shut off under load three times until the problem was located. Shutting off the engine under load caused the turbocharger to spin without oil pressure, which destroyed the bearings. A Detroit Diesel factory remanufactured turbocharger was installed. The above electrical changes prevent this from ever happening again.
BATTERIES: Coach contains 16 six volt batteries connected in parallel to provide a massive 12 volt power supply for the coach for extended periods. Two inverters/charger systems provide 6000 watts AC power, and more than 100 Amps charging power.
LIGHTING: wherever possible bulbs have been replaced with LED bulbs
AIR CONDITIONING, CHASSIS: The factory dash air conditioning, by design, required the large engine fan to be engaged whenever the AC is in ON mode, regardless if the compressor is running or not. This consumes a lot of horsepower and energy. System was redesigned to have two electric radiator fans provide the cooling and are triggered by the AC compressor being engaged. This removes the AC condenser fan requirements from the engine. While performing this upgrade it was discovered that the AC condenser coil was installed backwards (from the factory). This was repiped and corrected, improving the AC performance.
Dash heat/AC fan motor was replaced.
HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING, COACH All three rooftop units have been cleaned and serviced. The cover lids which were cracking due to age have been replaced.
REFRIGERATOR: The cooling portion of the absorption refrigeration circuit has been completely replaced. The refrigerator is AC and propane powered. It has a built in ice maker and booster cooling compressor for when in ice making mode.
Entertainment: XM Satellite radio antenna is installed in the coach. All old style TVs have been removed. A new high definition TV is in the rear bedroom, no TV is currently in the front, although the space exists.
A satellite dish for TV is on the roof, but subscriptions, etc, are required.
15,000 watt GENERATOR: Voltage regulator has been replaced. Mounting system has been re-engineered to allow easier complete removal of generator if ever required. Radiator fan motor has been replaced.
BATHROOM EXHAUST: Exhaust fan has been replaced with top of the line temperature controlled exhaust system with remote control.
HEATING SYSTEM: Three zone boiler has been fully serviced on a regular basis. New parts installed include pump, igniters and nozzles. Currently needs a replacement Bosch controller module.
HEADLIGHTS: Low beams lights are 55 watt each. High beams are 100 watt each (4) and mounted in the lower bumper are two bright fog lights and two very bright driving lights.
