If you are traveling America’s highways this summer, expect to see more luxury RVs out there. Luxury is a growing part of the over 374,000 RVs that were sold in 2015. That is the most since 2006, which was the last record year for RV sales. The stable economy, low fuel prices, appealing financing terms, and better campgrounds all contribute to the positive RV industry news.

Advancements in technology and design have allowed manufacturers to include more luxury features in these large recreational vehicles than ever before.

Features make them feel like home

The Columbus Dispatch recently spoke with Tom and Lisa Hill, a Piqua, Ohio couple looking to purchase a luxury Class A for their retirement years. They enjoy traveling to Florida and Alabama, but do not want the many hassles that come with purchasing a vacation home.

Some of the 45-foot-long models can expand to have 450 square feet of living area. These luxury vehicles include custom cabinets, indoor and outdoor kitchens, raised patios, heated bathroom floors, fireplaces, granite countertops, and the list goes on.  Some of the most popular models include the Newmar Essex, Prevost Le Mirage XL, Monaco Dynasty, and the American Coach Heritage.

Like many middle-aged and older RV buyers, Tom and Lisa like traveling in comfort. Lisa likes being able to see a lot of different areas without having to pack and unpack every couple of days.

RVing is a lifestyle

In addition to retirees, many millennials are looking for an alternative to hotels. More people include pets in their travels and vacation with friends or extended family members. Many large luxury RVs comfortably sleep eight people with room for dogs and cats.

RV industry news outlets report that in addition to the economy and fuel prices, the hassles of traveling by plane are also contributing to increased demand for luxury RVs.
