Don’t Cancel Spring Break; Go RVing!

The poor economy forcing you to cancel your spring break plans? Instead of disappointing the family (and yourself), take the family RVing for spring break this year. RV family vacations are an average 26% to 74% cheaper than traditional fly/drive vacations, according to a report by PKF Consulting, the internationally recognized travel industry consulting firm.

RV travel is at least 36% cheaper than taking the family car, staying in motels and eating in restaurants; at least 70% cheaper than flying, renting a car, staying in a hotel and eating in restaurants. RV travel allows families to control their vacation costs. Because you carry your sleeping accommodations with you when you RV, there’s no hotel cost. Sure, you have to pay a campground fee to park your RV overnight; but state park and campground fees, which can be as little as $10 a night, are a pittance of what you pay for even an economy motel these days. And the bonus is that you don’t have to schlep your luggage and all the kids’ junk in and out of a hotel room every night!

The ability to prepare your own healthy meals is another big savings. You don’t have to pay restaurant prices for the kids to eat Cheerios for breakfast or PB&J for lunch. When you RV, you can control the amount of money you spend on food. Instead of watching your budget by feeding the family at fast food joints like you might have to on a typical vacation, you can save by fixing some of your own meals and splurge on dinner out at a nice restaurant.

You’ll find very affordable RVs for sale on RVT.com, and you can even rent a RV for a vacation to try out the RV lifestyle.
