Winnebago’s introduction of its first full-size luxury fifth-wheel at the recent Louisville trade show could be an indication that the luxury RV market is going to be one of the primary drivers of 2014 RV sales. Winnebago Industries’ Destination stylishly combines an attractive, aerodynamic exterior with an upscale residential interior that takes the practical fifth-wheel to a new level of luxury that exceeds the features of the company’s popular Lite Five 5th wheel.

With a multidimensional paint design and LED light strips, the new rig looks great from the outside; but as RV Pro emphasized, it’s Destination’s interior accoutrements that are attracting attention. Tall 6-ft. 9-in. ceilings that extend to main floor slide outs graced with extra tall windows create an unparalleled feeling of interior spaciousness.

But it’s the little things that count and Destination has wrapped up a treasure trove of luxury features, including a modern galley with custom hardwood cabinets, recessed oven, residential-size French-door fridge and optional full-size dishwasher. A 50-inch TV and state-of-the-art entertainment system instantly turn the living room into a home theater or front-row seats at your favorite sporting event. For cold winter nights, order the optional fireplace with hearth.

The comfortable 60-inch fiberglass shower, ceramic toilet and large vanity with solid surface counters and built-in lavatory sink bring home comfort to RV living. But the master suite with its spacious 6-ft. 9-in. ceilings and attention to personal comfort is what make the Destination the must-have choice of discerning RVers. The flex bed system that allows the head of the bed to be raised for comfortable television viewing or reading is nice; but it is the full-size, cedar-lined, walk-in closet with four large radius shelves that gets the drum roll.

Winnebago’s Destination 5th wheel is so new the company hasn’t had time to add it to its website, but keep an eye out. The Destination definitely raises the bar for 5th wheel luxury.
