Ad Placement Boosts Power of RV Classified Ads

Posted by Claire on Nov 02, 2011

Realtors say the key to selling a house is location, location, location. The same is true when you sell your RV. Whether you’re an individual RV seller or an RV dealer moving inventory, the location of your RV classified ad will have a critical impact on how quickly your RV sells. Your goal as an RV seller is to place your classified ad where it will be seen by the greatest number of potential RV buyers so that it will sell quickly. Accomplishing that goal depends on two key decisions: which website you list your ad on and where on the website your ad is displayed.

Listing your RV for sale on a classified ad website like RVT.com that is dedicated exclusively to RV sales will attract a more motivated and more targeted buyer pool than listing your RV ad on a website that offers a wide variety of items for sale. When shoppers visit RVT.com, they’re not looking for a baby crib or baseball memorabilia; they are there to buy an RV.

RV classified ad websites contain thousands of RV listings. On RVT.com, for example, there are currently 54,394 RVs for sale. Making your ad stand out so that it is noticed by RV shoppers can be a challenge. Paying a little extra for special placement on RVT.com’s homepage or the search page for a specific state or province increases the number of RV shoppers who will see your ad and guarantees that shoppers see your RV ad first.

Recession Boosts Interest in RV Travel and Lifestyle

Posted by Claire on Oct 07, 2011

The popularity of TLC’s hit television show Extreme Couponing is a sign of the times. Driven by the recession, extended job loss, tight credit and the ongoing financial crisis, America appears to be entering an age of austerity; or so the doomsayers would tell us. But while consumer spending has decreased for the first time since the early 1940s when World War II forced strict rationing of everything from butter and sugar to metal and paper, Americans haven’t snapped their wallets completely shut. We’re still spending; we’re just being more careful about how we spend our hard-earned money.

According to an interesting article on changing American spending habits that was published in the October 10, 2011 issue of Time magazine, we’re spending less on foreign travel and more on seeing America. We’re eating out less, but spending more on fresh ingredients for home-cooked meals. We’re spending less on tickets to amusements parks, sporting events and museums and more on camping, outdoor equipment and bicycles. The bottom line is that we’re looking for better value from every dollar we spend, and we’re placing a higher value on homegrown fun like RV travel and RV camping.

This is an excellent time to buy an RV or sell your current RV and upgrade to a more fuel-efficient, eco-friendly RV. Recreational vehicles offer inexpensive travel, nearly no-cost entertainment and affordable living. If you’re shopping for high value at a low cost, buying an RV online is an excellent investment.

Packaged RV Sales Benefit Seller and Buyer

Posted by Claire on Sep 30, 2011

Whether you’re selling a towable RV or looking to buy a 5th wheel RV or RV travel trailer, the fly in the ointment always seems to be the tow vehicle. After they sell their travel trailer, RV sellers are still stuck with the truck or heavy-duty SUV they used to tow it. New RV owners who have just purchased a travel trailer online can’t start using it until they buy a tow vehicle capable of towing their new rig. RVT.com offers the perfect solution for both RV buyers and sellers: packaged sales. For an extra $10, RV sellers can sell both their RV and their tow vehicle in linked ads on RVT.com

RV Sellers benefit. Listing your towable RV and tow vehicle together on RVT.com is a fast, easy solution for RV sellers who won’t have a use for their current truck or SUV once they sell their RV travel trailer. Selling both vehicles as a package will attract more buyers and give you more cash to put toward that spacious motorhome you’ve had your eye on.

RV Buyers benefit. If you’re buying your first towable RV, you’ll need a heavy-duty SUV or pickup truck to pull it. Just any truck won’t do. You need one with the capacity to pull the fully-loaded weight of your new rig. Buying an RV online with the vehicle that’s been used to tow it ensures that you’re buying a truck with the power to pull the load.

RVT Mobile Apps Position Dealers to Capitalize on Mobile Trend

Posted by Claire on Sep 21, 2011

Nearly 100 million Americans, a quarter of the U.S. population, have gone mobile. Two in 5 of those mobile users regularly access the internet while they are on the move, 38% from smartphones. By 2015, internet marketing analyst eMarketer predicts that more than half of the U.S. population will be using smartphones as their primary form of communication with 3 in 5 smartphone users regularly conducting business over the mobile internet.

Double-digit growth in the number of smartphone users — up 49% this year — is predicted by eMarketer to continue through 2015 and most likely beyond. (eMarketer’s current prediction cycle stops at 2015.) Coupled with the fast-paced upgrading of mobile networks by competing mobile communication giants AT&T and Verizon — according to Time magazine each has spent $30 billion on network upgrades since 2009 — market analysts see a rapidly-growing trend toward a mobile lifestyle.

Already comfortable with online shopping, banking and business transactions, American consumers have been quick to embrace the advantages and convenience of mobile communication. Current trends place the U.S. on track to become an all-mobile community before 2020. RVT mobile apps for iPhone and iPad apps keep RV dealers abreast of current trends and position RV dealers to capitalize on changing communication and shopping habits to sell more RVs.

Fall Is Excellent Time to Sell RVs Online

Posted by Claire on Sep 16, 2011

Whether you’re an individual RV owner or an RV dealer, fall is the ideal time to list your personal RV or RV dealership inventory for sale online. Fall sales allow RV dealers to clear current inventory to make room for the arrival of new 2012 RV models. Individual RV owners who are ready to sell their current RVs can avoid winter storage fees and additional maintenance costs by selling their rigs in the fall. Most importantly, vehicle shoppers have been programmed by the auto industry to shop for vehicles in the fall when the best bargains are typically available. RV sellers that list their RVs for sale online now can take advantage of this ingrained shopping pattern and attract early RV shoppers and snowbirds that are looking for an RV to use during the winter.

Selling your RV online on RVT.com expands your sales market nationwide, maximizing your opportunity to connect with potential RV buyers. More than half a million RV shoppers visit RVT.com every month, generating more than 2 million ad views. RVT.com provides RV sellers and RV dealers with the widest possible audience for their RV ads. In addition to our website and blog, RV ads listed on RVT.com are promoted via Facebook and Twitter and can be accessed with our iPhone and iPad apps. No matter where RV shoppers look, RVT.com makes sure they’ll see your RV sales ad.

How to Stage Your RV to Sell Fast

Posted by Claire on Aug 31, 2011

Staging is as important in selling your RV as it is in selling a house. Home owners often pay professional stagers hundreds, even thousands of dollars to stage their house to sell. Studies show that staged homes sell faster and for high prices than homes that are not staged. You won’t need a professional stager to sell your RV online; but borrowing a few tips from the pros can help you sell your RV faster and for a better price.

Before taking photos of your RV to post with your online RV ad, prep your rig for staging:

> Move your stuff out. Empty closets, storage areas, cupboards, the refrigerator, etc. Getting rid of clutter will make your RV seem larger.

> Scrub your RV until it shines inside and out. Wash windows, curtains and carpeting. Make sure bed and bath linens are clean and fresh; buy inexpensive new towels if you have to.

Once your RV is empty and clean, you’re ready to start staging. The idea is to add a few items to each area to provide a visual scale for online buyers and encourage buyers to see their own belongings — and themselves — in your RV. For example, hang two ironed shirts in a closet. Place one folded sweater in a drawer. Put a bottle of juice and a bowl of apples in the fridge. Put a cereal box in a kitchen cupboard.

Take ad photos of your RV after staging it.
