Web Analytics 101

Every business with a website should be analyzing their web-traffic to gain valuable and actionable insight. By implementing a free analytics program, you can easily monitor your website traffic, and use that information to create higher conversion websites and determine the effectiveness of your various online advertising campaigns.

Get started in three easy steps:

  1. Set up with a free (but surprisingly powerful) Google Analytics account (GA).
  2. Enter your website(s) address information from within the GA settings/home page.
  3. Insert the specified code in the header of your webpages, or on pages you’d like to track.

Now sit back, as GA collects vast amounts of data from your website traffic, and compiles it into various reports such as Visitor/Traffic Source, Top Content (most viewed pages on your site), and Bounce Rate (% of visitors who ‘bounced’ after viewing only one page).

Work with your webmaster to integrate more advanced features, including Goal tracking and E-commerce reports. These powerful options can show you your most valuable traffic and allow you to track the effectiveness of your online ad campaigns and other e-marketing.
