We love the 399th except for the deception by dealer. Dealer told us unit included "my rv". This was not included. Told us the unit had 160 gal fresh water tanks. Wrong again we metered the water and the unit holds 109 gallons. GD customer service was ok but our dealer service was horrible. They acted like they were doing us a favor by fixing issues with coach. At this point we feel we may have made a mistake purchasing the momentum 399th.

Overall we like our 399TH and we accept some of the simple fixes that usually come with a new camper. However, it seems like we have a list that wouldn't exist with proper QC:
1. The trailer arrived with the wrong interior.
2. The media chairs were mounted crooked and would get stuck on the window valance when reclined.
3. No hot water on city connection. We have to pull water from the tanks to heat it.
4. Half of the carpet in the loft wasn't even there. It just raw particle board exposed. I was told this was normal from my dealer!
5. Sliding door to the side porch is not square and the door doesn't close flush.
6. Garage glass door has a gap on one side, clearly not plumb.
7. Garage loft bed is not level. I have to push up on one side of the bed to place the locking pins in. I was told by my dealer there is nothing that can be done about it. I need to stand on a stool or use a pole to push the bed up while putting the pin in.
8. The porch enclosure tears a hole in the mesh when stowed for transport. The dealer said it's a design flaw.
9.Trailer was delivered with missing rubber keyhole covers. I was told they will not be covered under warranty even though it was delivered without them!
10. Batteries wont hold a full charge. 12.5V is the highest they will charge. The dealer is currently looking at that.
11. The door would unlatch even when locked under transport. The closed grab handle is the only thing keeping the door closed. I'm told the door isn't aligned with the latch catch properly.
12.Power converter was advertised as a 75W but a 65W was put in.
13. Kitchen slide does not close flush to the unit.
14. Fuel tank gage is backwards and reads the level in the opposite tank.

There are also three options we paid for but wish we didn't and we feel a little deceived:
1. The king bed upgrade is not a true king, it's 6 inches narrower than a actual king. We upgraded so I could use our Tempurpedic mattress for my back only to find out later that I paid for the king size option and it won't fit my actual sized king. I now have to buy a queen Tempurpedic to replace the stock mattress but the queen mattress is too small to fill the fake king size platform. Basically I paid for an option I can't use and on top of that I need to spend even more money because of it. Stick with the queen unless you plan on keeping the horrible stock mattress!
2. The so called removable carpet kit for the garage area is a joke! It is literally a roll of felt that isn't even cut to fit the garage(see pic)! We had the understanding it was carpet that matched the carpet in the rest of the trailer. We at least got a small piece of carpet for the door step. The option should be title "unmeasured/uncut removable felt" because it is definitely not carpet! Buy a remnant instead from Lowes or Home Depot, it will be actual carpet and it will be cheaper too!
3. The optional stairs for the ramps have been useless for us. We have yet to find an area that once you get leveled the stairs will reach the ground, even with the legs fully extended(see pic). I have to use wood blocks to place under the legs even on a hard level surface. The only time they work properly is on a flat level surface without the leveling jacks extended(like at an RV show)! The side porch stair mounts were not measured properly and the stairs will not mount evenly because of them. I'm waiting for my dealer to see what they can do with that. I would love to have my money back for these useless options. The camper is nice overall but there seems to be some deceiving with some options, intentional or not....research the options closely or you may not be getting what you think. This is our first camper and our lessons learned were expensive.

Our experience with this trailer has been wonderful to full time in. We are a family of 3 and use the toy hauler as a kids bedroom and it has been great. The only minor issue we have had is that the tub leaked around the outside when we first got it and I just took some clear silicone and ran a light bead around it and no issues since then and a small piece of trim fell off because it seemed the company uses a nail gun and whomever done it was just going to fast and pushing to hard and went all the way through the trim. The living area could be more user friendly with having a outward facing couch so that you can look outside when seated but to each his own. Other than this, this trailer had been flawless and we would not own another brand especially after upgrading from a Heartland.

Great layout and functional. I belive the newer model has address the tight garage space although I have not actually seen it. It would be nice if they would address to cheap windows, problem in the front living area. The cranking system is cheap and the Nylon Wheels in the track can't withstand the pressure put on them while traveling down the highway. Both my Forward Windows have blown out sucking out the screens and the blinds. The replacement mechanism is better but the aluminum where it attaches is bending in. A recessed window or some kind of lock would really help in this area or a small fairing over the front edge of the window to direct wind over it may be the trick. The slide outs would have been better if they could have made those recessed also. The cold weather can be felt through the slides wall. Maybe thicker walls or Some kind of outer wrapping that is water proff would be great to have as maybe an add on for full timers who would like a stedier temp inside and make winsows double pane. The 2016 model has the dump valve location under coach and you have to get underneath to pull those. I think they addressed that in 2017 and the pulls are inside a hatch. Much better on the knees. I love my 2016 376th but improvements are always a plus.

This is a great fifth wheel. There is a lot of hidden storage and bed space for a toy hauler. Grand Design did a great job with this model. I've been in several toy haulers where it feels cramped in the living area and this one doesn't at. There are a lot of additional features that make this camper worth it.

My heart was broken and I am angry. We spent very good money on what we thought was a great product. However I feel Grand Design does not stand behind their product and we have had several issues with ours. #1 was the generator. Seems after a visit to dealer and my husband on the phone trouble shooting the problem they think it\'s the transfer switch we have not gotten that fixed yet. The battery went dead after 3 months and we had to purchase a new one. No warranty. They led us to believe a backup camera was included in this model it wasn\'t but we could never get a straight answer. I so want to do long trips but our wheel, hub and all came off our very 1st long distant trip had no resolution with that as well. I feel we got the shaft and no one cared.

We love the comfort of our Toy Hauler but what we don\'t love is the dust the comes in the camper on the pantry side, on the bottom and fills the camper with dirt every time we get on a dirt road. We have had campers with slide outs before so yes we know there not going to keep all of the dirt out but this fills the camper going and coming. We have taken pictures before taking it into the dealer with no luck in getting it fixed. We know there has to be something that can be done because its just that one corner that fills with dirt and causes the dust cloud through out the camper.
We also had a small tear in the seam of the leather couch and the piece they replaced it with doesn\'t match the rest of the couch. We paid lots of money for this camper by adding an extra air conditioner etc because we want to do lots of traveling but the dirt that comes in rather we\'re on the highway or dirt road is awful. This weekend was really bad when we got to our camp site I just wanted to sit down and bawl because I\'d spent so much time cleaning it after the Dealership said it was fixed.

I'm the second owner of my Momentum and have had nothing but problems with it since I've owned it. It has had numerous water leaks. I took it to a repair vessel to get the recall fixed on the suspension. I had the shop check a spoagy spot in my floor in front of my pantry. They called me and told me I had bad water damage in the floor . I got a estimate and it was $16,000 to repair it.

I would go in with your eyes wide open. GD is just another regular RV with many problems. With the recent buyout it will only get worse quickly.

The Grand Design owners web site is tightly controlled. Don't take it seriously. Those who bring up good things are rewarded with free service and parts, attention many of us will not get. For those who may say a bad thing you will be scolded quickly or worst case booted from the sight.

Check out the " sticky Leaking Grease Seals " about 20+ pages. Sight owner deletes when it gets to big or not to his liking.

I started it in 2014 it grew to 100s of responses. At one point I asked about GD liability thread was deleted and I was banned by sight administrator within 24 hours
( guess who pays him )

In the end GD is just another RV. I hope this helps others.

I had a momentum. First the dealersold the unit I contracted to get by taking it to Arizona in an RV show. So I got a different one than I actually contracted for- they just crossed out the information and put in new stuff acting lie this was ok. Unit came defective in the gutter system. The only slam door not slam latch sealed is where the controls for the hydrolics are. The gutter is pieced right above this door and water leaks down the wall. I had this addressed twice and each time they put silicone caullking vs replacing the gutter. So it bubbled up in the gutter while I was in San Marcos Texas. A huge rain storm came and the water poured down the wall, leaking into the door in the storage area running through the controls. When the emergency call to leave came at 3 am the unit had shorted out it was not possible to move the hydrolic feet. The unit had to be left and was hit with 40 ft wall of water, filing it up over te bed in the upper level. With insurance depreciation I lost $30K. I will NEVER buy a product from them again! The didnt care when I called and they never recalled any of the other units I have seen with exactly the same problem. I have purchased a keystone product that has better creature comforts and is also made well- and with it being last years model I have gotten a SCREAMING deal on a 100K trailer.

the momentum design is horrible The TV is on the wall and you have to look over the kitchen counter to see it from the sofa. Best place to see the TV is the single bed area over the garage powder room! To see the fireplace one must lie down on one's side and peek around the kitchen island. There is no table and if you put the one up by the sofa you can't walk around it! The sofa is horrible- designed to sit straight up only and has little red pull things that poke you if you aren't careful HOW you sit on the sofa- only place to sit.

theTV is horrible and cheap. The sound system is wired stupidly so it is not easy to use the surround sound. The kitchen is limited as well. My faucet leaked and I had to fix it.

Did I mention that my trailer came with a family of mice residing in the kitchen cabinets?

I do not recommend this trailer. I do not recommend the central Grand Design company who knows all about this and has made no effort to correct their mistakes in this trailer. Beware if you purchase one of these.
