FOR SALE: 2006 class c with POD and tow dolly
Class C / Columbia, IL

This is the rare RV that is almost impossible to find. It's the class C that fits in a single walmart parking space! These short C units are usually snapped up by rental companies and only hit the market after lots of other people have put 150k or more miles on them. (and we all know how well renters take care of cars). This has NEVER been a rental unit and only has 31k on it! Why do rental companies like these? First of all, there is no long wheelbase to make turns difficult...which usually leads to hitting stuff. Second, there is no big long butt hanging out the back...which usually leads to hitting things on turns. Third, it has a cargo capacity of 3860 pounds...which makes it hard for customers to overload it...which would lead to unstable handling.
OK, here's the things people and dealers don't want you to know:
1) most Rvs are already at maximum carrying capacity with just people and no cargo...and they expressly make you agree in the sales paperwork that any problems due to overloading is YOUR if you buy something that seats 5 people and you put them and their clothes in the RV and it goes over the cargo capacity and breaks down or wrecks...tuff luck. ALWAYS find out what the cargo carrying capacity is! (prepare to be shocked!)
2) they quote cargo capacity and maximum tow capacity but never mention that they have a combined maximum! The more you tow, the less you can carry! The more you carry, the less you can tow! The axles on a Ford class c are rated at 9450 rear and 4600 the maximum for carry weight is 14050. The unloaded weight is 10190 so that gives a total carry weight of 3860. They forget to tell you that that 500 tongue weight on your tow must be subtracted from the carry weight, which on this sweetheart leaves a whopping 3360 pounds cargo weight even if towing! Do the math on a comparable 31 foot unit and due to the extra weight it only has a cargo capacity of 1680 lbs! Take off 500 for towing and that leaves 1180. Figure seating 4 adults and 3 kids and you need to take off another 700 to 900...leaving you just 280 to 480 for clothes, toiletries, food, etc. (and that is based on an average 150 per adult...). As you can see, the bigger the RV... the more you gotta buy when you get there. So much for saving money by bringing stuff...
3) That dealer price is nowhere near what you end up paying...add on those things that don't appear till you are ready to charge (they charge YOU to have it delivered to THEM!) etc...
4) The things they don't mention in the ad...really pay attention to this! Ask yourself why they say crap like its wonderful or fun...but don't give you the cold hard numbers! Why don't they put the date code of the tires in the ad? Because they know tires are only good for about 7 year REGARDLESS of the mileage! If you knew it would need tires soon you would start to add the thousands of dollars for that in your head and suddenly the price doesn't look so good... Look at all the specs and info I put here! Don't see the info you want? Ask and I'll add it.
5) Pictures are bull. Take a good look at the ad. If it only has 5 pictures...what are the pictures NOT showing? I looked at an ad and the rv looked fantastic...until I saw it in person. It had water damage on the ceiling, delamination on the drivers side and broken glass...all of which the seller had cleverly avoided showing. My ad has a lot of pictures, a link to even more pictures, and if I missed anything just tell me and I'll post it to the ad. Other people will send you pictures if you bug them enough but won't post them to the ad hoping to keep other buyers ignorant.
6) There is no such thing as perfect. Every single car, truck, or RV you see an ad for has something wrong! Even if its some stupid little thing like a screw missing...there is always something wrong. If someone tells you there is nothing wrong...RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!! Either they are lying because it is horrible and expensive or they just don't bother with checking their RV...neither person is someone you want to deal with. I will list everything I know is wrong...vinyl stickers on outside worn (I didn't hide it in the pics)...mirror arm missing some paint (but it seems to be aluminum so no rust)...rubber seals around a couple of windows are shrinking (common problem, most people just caulk them)...antenna crank handle off (i have it but the screw is broken off in the shaft and I am horrible with extractors...I just hold it on and crank it) LCD tv is not permanently mounted. It sits strapped down in the cabinet when moving and on the dinette when not. It has a King satellite unit but I don't know if or how it does make noise if you hit the buttons.
That's about everything but let me know if I missed anything or you need more info. Its a lot of info but if someone wants you to spend your hard earned bucks on their RV...why are they only giving you 5 pictures and one paragraph describing it? What are they hiding?
